Rafael Raffaelli nasceu na cidade de São Paulo, Brasil, em 1953, e trabalha com fotografia artística desde 1979. Atualmente trabalha com pintura digital. Raffaelli une pintura e fotografia para criar arte abstrata na era digital. Emprega uma ampla gama de ferramentas para transformar fotografias em pinturas abstratas, aplicando diversos pincéis, efeitos e filtros para transformar o medium original numa expressão artística inusitada, na qual a sua atenção ao detalhe cria múltiplas imagens dentro de imagens integradas numa fusão de formas. Com uma abordagem original nos campos da pintura digital e fotografia abstrata, Raffaelli propõe uma estética baseada numa elaborada composição em espaço all-over, ausência de naturalismo, livre expressão e energia visual.
Em 1985, foi selecionado para participar na 3ª Bienal Nacional de Arte Fotográfica que teve lugar no MIS -Museu da Imagem e do Som (São Paulo, SP, Brasil), sob o patrocínio do Foto Cine Clube Bandeirante e da Confederação Brasileira de Cinema e Fotografia, membros da Federation Internationale de l'Art Photographique (FIAP). No mesmo ano também participou no II Salão Nacional de Fotografias Artísticas (Poços de Caldas, Abril/1985, Prefeitura Municipal, MG, Brasil).
Raffaelli foi selecionado pelo Comitê de Seleção Internacional da Bienal de Florença para expor na Biennale Internazionale d'Arte Contemporanea di Firenze 2019 (XII Florence Biennale, Florença, Itália) na categoria arte digital.

Rafael Raffaelli was born in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, in 1953. He focused on fine art photography from 1979 and recently on digital painting. In the
digital era, Raffaelli combines digital painting and photography to create abstract art. He employs a wide range of tools to transform photographs into
abstract paintings, applying various brushes, effects and filters to transform the original medium into an unusual artistic expression, where attention to detail creates multiple images within other images, integrated in a fusion of shapes. With an original approach in the fields of digital painting and abstract photography, Raffaelli proposes an aesthetic based on an elaborate all-over spatial composition, absence of naturalism, free expression and visual energy.
In 1985 was selected to participate in the 3rd. National Biennial of Photograph Art, that was held at MIS - Museum of Image and Sound (São Paulo, SP, Brazil); the Biennial was sponsored by Bandeirante Photo Cine Club and by Brazilian Confederation of Photography and Cinema, members of the Federation Internationale de l'Art Photographique (FIAP). In the same year also participated in the II National Exposition of Fine-art Photography (Poços de Caldas, April/1985, City Hall, MG, Brazil).
Raffaelli was selected by the Florence Biennale International Selection Committee to expose at Biennale Internazionale d'Arte Contemporanea di Firenze 2019 (XIIth Florence Biennale, Florence, Italy) in the category of digital art.
